HJ CARROLL BASKETBALL COURTS UPDATE

Due to construction of the JUMP! Playground project at HJ Carroll Park, the use of the basketball courts will be impacted.

Jefferson County Parks and Rec Manager Matt Tyler said the loss of the courts over the summer is a “disappointment for many people of all ages that rely on them.”

Construction of the playground impacts all four sides of the courts and there is no safe way to access and use the courts during construction. A secure safety zone and wide berth must be provided for heavy equipment operators.

“Children don’t mix well with dump trucks, excavators and concrete trucks,” Tyler said.

The courts at Irondale Park are being pressure washed next Thursday and will be available for play.
