The City of Port Angeles will begin the 16th Street Stormwater Retrofit Project on Tuesday, October 7. This project is part of the city’s Capital Facilities Plan (TR0715) and aims to improve water quality in Tumwater Creek and Port Angeles Harbor.
Crews will install three biofilters and a CDS Hydrodynamic Separator at the intersections of 16th Street with C, D, and E Streets. These installations are designed to remove pollutants such as total suspended solids, dissolved copper, dissolved zinc, and total phosphorus from stormwater runoff before it enters Tumwater Creek.
On October 7, work will start at the intersection of 16th and C Streets. A detour will be set up from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flaggers present to guide traffic around the construction area.
A statement from city officials reads: “We thank you for your patience while we complete this important work. For more information, please visit our website or contact the Public Works & Utilities Department at publicworks@cityofpa.us.”
