The City of Port Angeles is seeking community feedback as it prepares for a new bike boulevard project in the west part of the city. The initiative, listed as TR0318 in the Capital Facilities Plan, aims to enhance safety and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians by linking existing bike infrastructure on 10th Street (west of “I” Street) with the 8th Street Bridges.
Construction is not expected to begin for at least another year. However, city officials are encouraging residents to share their input now through an online survey. According to the city, this feedback will help shape the design of the project and guide decisions about its implementation.
Planned improvements include bicycle wayfinding signs and markings, buffered and non-buffered bike lanes, two-way protected bike lanes, traffic diverters, parking removal, vehicle lane width reduction, median channelization with turn restrictions, rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB), new marked crosswalks, and stop signs.
The project has received full grant funding totaling $1,959,000 from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The WSDOT Pedestrian and Bicycle Program supports public agencies by funding projects that improve bicycle and pedestrian routes as outlined in city safety plans.
“Whether you bike daily or not at all, your input is important. Please take a minute to complete the online survey now through October 15, 2025: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7RJ973J”
Residents are invited to select their preferred route among five options presented in the survey. For additional information about the project or to contact staff directly, individuals can visit the city’s website or reach out via email at publicworks@cityofpa.us.
