Thanks to the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, Gov. Jay Inslee and Sec. John Wiesman are holding off on advancing Washington state counties to the fourth phase of reopening as areas that are reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic are experiencing more cases, KXRO reported.
The Washington State Department of Health has pressed pause on the notion of moving forward to Phase 4, which would essentially progress counties to usual activity.
“We can’t do that now due to the continued rises in cases across the state,” Inslee told KXRO. “We all want to get back to doing the things we love in Washington in the summer, and fully open our economy, but we aren’t there yet. This is an evolving situation and we will continue to make decisions based on the data.”
Wiesman added that residents can help slow the spread by wearing face masks and social distancing. He told KXRO that testing is extremely vital, especially since more supplies are available.
