The Grays Harbor Board of County Commissioners recently raised the amount of funding available for CARES Act small business grants to $1.5 million and extended the deadline for grant applications to Sept. 15, according to The Daily World.
In early June, the county received over $4 million in federal CARES Act funding of which it allocated $1 million in a pledge to provide assistance to businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to a proposal from Commissioner Randy Ross, the county has now raised the amount of funding to $1.5 million.
Businesses in the county that can show that they have been economically affected by the coronavirus and the related government shutdowns may be eligible for grants of up to $10,000, the Daily World reported.
County director of utilities and community development Mark Cox said about 150 applications have been submitted in total of which approximately 80 to 100 applications still need to be reviewed. To ensure that applicants have ample time to submit their applications, the deadline has been extended to 4:30 p.m., Sept. 15.
