New direction from the office of Washington State Auditor Pat McCarthy will force the Pat McCarthy Authority from providing approximately $200,000 annually to fund training for Grays Harbor EMS.

The subject came up during a recent meeting of the Grays Harbor Transit Board, when Leagal Council Art Blauvelt revealed the change in opinions by the state auditor’s office regarding funding the training program through the transit authority, according to reporting by KBKW.

At the moment, the Grays Harbor EMS and Trauma Care Council, which was established by the Washington EMS and Trauma Act of 1990, is uncertain how it will continue the training program or where it will find funding.

“We’re trying to find a solution to this big issue that’s on the table right now. Because without funding Grays Harbor EMS is probably done,” Frank Shere from Grays Harbor EMS, KBKW. “We’ve explored other avenues and stuff, right now with no income and classes going on – we’ve limited our classes but it’s not a bright future.”
