Asked about Phase 3 of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Jay Inslee admitted that there's still no Phase 3 yet. "We just put the finishing touches on Phase 2," Inslee said during a recent press conference.

The governor explained that the next phase would be based on data trends and the results of the on-going mass vaccination.

“I think we will be looking at the science in the ... immediate future as it develops both as to how prevalent the new variants are (and) how the current favorable conditions are continuing over the next several weeks. We’ve been very pleased with the declining numbers,” Inslee said.

As Phase 3 remains unclear, the Republican mayor of Spokane, Nadine Woodward, has previously made a plea to the governor in a Tweet to consider working on a collaboration in formulating the Phase 3 plan.

“Eastern WA deserves a seat at the table to help develop a plan to safely move forward! Collaboration is a good thing. We’re in!!!

"I doubt there will be anything clear in the next several days about the issue," Inslee said while visiting schools in Spokane. He also said that Washington needs to take into consideration that the first case of the South Africa variant was found in the state, KHQ reported.
