The Commissioners reviewed the latest iteration of precinct boundaries and a new naming convention based on District location

Megaphone gd7b38fb34 1280

The Commissioners reviewed the latest iteration of precinct boundaries and a new naming convention based on District location. The cost for all changes is approximately $30,000 (cards and postage) plus staff time to prepare and mail new precinct cards to those affected.

If just the new boundaries are changed, 10,000 people are affected and the cost would be approximately $5,000 plus staff time.

There are over 27,000 registered voters in Jefferson County.

It was noted that the current numbering convention has been in effect for more than 10 years and was based on original levy code numbers.

The revised version will be presented to the commissioners for approval next Monday, March 21.
