Emergency Management Medical Reserve Corp Volunteer Program

Fimg notice1

Hey everyone….I know, I know…I missed last week’s post. I’m sorry.  But I already have some information for this week that I will post on Friday.

But today, I wanted to send something out that we are working on at the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management section. Many areas use what’s called the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) among their Emergency Mgt. volunteer programs.  What it is, is a national network of volunteers to improve health and safety in their communities.  The idea is to have these folks help to strengthen local public health, reduce vulnerability and build capacity. In fact, Clallam County EM did have an organized MRC some time ago, but like other things, it faded.  Our recent round with COVID kind of reminded us how nice it would be to have such a group again.

Here’s a link to what the MRC is all about: https://aspr.hhs.gov/MRC/Pages/index.aspx

So, there are a ton of things you can do to be a part of this great program.  Emergency Shelter care, aid in all sorts of medical responses, even veterinary care.

So if you have sort of a medical background that you might want to volunteer, consider this.  We have placed a survey online if you are interest and ask you to access it and fill it out. https://www.cognitoforms.com/ClallamCounty1/MRCSurvey

It will be up until May 5. If you want to know if we are getting somewhere with the program, please leave your contact information with the survey.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has many ways to have folks volunteer and help serve their community.  Fact is, we can’t do it all ourselves so, we can always use your help.  The MRC could be one more way to utilize the many talents the folks in our neighborhoods have in times of need. Thanks for taking the time.

OK, until Friday, stay safe.
