Volunteer Opportunity

Jcpr

The Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is seeking two volunteer advisory board members from county commissioner districts 1 and 2.

This is a team oriented, cooperative, dynamic, and dedicated advisory board with a number of interesting park and policy projects that could impact facilities such as the Port Townsend Rec. Center, Memorial Field, HJ Carroll Park, Gibbs Lake Park, Lake Leland Campground, Oak Bay Campground, Quilcene Campground, North Beach Park, Indian Island Park, and recreation programs such as Rec. Soccer and Basketball.

The board meets six times/year for 1.5 hours. The remaining meetings in 2022 are June, August, October and December. The meeting time is currently from 11am to 1pm, however, the board will probably change the meeting time to the later afternoon or early evening to better accommodate board members who work during the day.  Board members participate in meetings that focus on community input, problem solving, and planning. Members also have the option of volunteering in our parks, attending events, engaging with our recreation programs, and doing special project work.

Interested applicants should complete the advisory board application found at www.countyrec.com and submit it to Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, 1820 Jefferson St, Port Townsend, WA  98368 or jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us, by June 15, 2022. Please call Matt Tyler, 360-385-9129 if you have any questions.
