Penart

The PUB Gallery of Art at Peninsula College is pleased to announce the award winners of the 2022 Olympic Peninsula High School Art Exhibition. The exhibition reflects the talent and diverse artistic visions of high school students within the region. The exhibition may be viewed on the PUB Gallery of Art Facebook page located at https://bit.ly/38Yir5T.

Ezra Kikue Cook from Port Townsend High School received the top prize of “Best of Show” for a photo still, entitled, Waking Up.

“Waking Up" has been my first major passion project,” Cook said. “I am a 17-year-old aspiring director/writer/producer and I have always been fascinated with the subconscious. ‘Waking Up,’ went through several drafts... When the school year began, I joined a film class at Port Townsend High School, taught by David Egeler, and was able to pick the project back up. It's not the perfect film, and I have a lot to learn technically, but I believe it has substance, and substance that is meaningful to me.”
