The Greater Grays Harbor Inc., (GGHI) Regional Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council will soon be adding to the more than $184,000 in pandemic emergency grant funding it has already provided to local small businesses with plans for a second wave of relief funding already in the works, KBKW reported.
Since April, the GGHI has given 30 Gray Harbor businesses $6,143.30 in "average grant" awards to help them pay various operating expenses such as rent and supplies since April.
“As we continue to limit interactions in our fight against COVID-19 and plan for safe reopening of our economy, businesses are working hard to adjust to a ‘new normal’ and we need to be there for them,” Commerce Director Lisa Brown told KBKW. “These grants are helping our smallest Main Street businesses keep their doors open and paychecks coming to their employees.”
The funding is part of the Working Washington Small Business Emergency grant program with additional funding coming from "a portion" of Washington State's CARES Act federal funds, according to KBKW.
